❝ Documentation of my life. A homage to faded memories. ❞

1 day in Salzburg
Posted Thursday, December 01, 2011 // 07:55
Finally got some time to update my blog!

Did a couple of things over the past few weeks. But the most memorable one would be the trip to Salzburg. Woke up at 4am on tuesday. Took a bath, had a quick breakfast and then we head down to the train station to catch the 06:15 train to Salzburg. The interior of the train was really nice and spacious. It was about 3 hours before we reached.

Ticket to Salzburg.

Went to four places - the castle, Mozart's birthplace, the Science Centre and the zoo.

Though in the same country, Vienna and Salzburg are very different cities. Vienna is much more urbanized while Salzburg feels very country like.

Salzburg

Had a great time there (: Took the train at 6pm back to Vienna.

Time raelly flies, it's December already and I was supposed to fly this coming weekend if I didn't re-book my flight.

Anyway, it has almost been a month since I'm in Vienna and there is so much difference between Singapore and Vienna. Cultural shock.. Totally. There are some things I like but there are also some which I don't.

#01 Eating and drinking is NOT prohibited in trains, buses and trams
#02 You can get alcohol as cheap as 1 and ciggarettes are cheaper here too despite the heafty currency exchange rates
#03 You can smoke in almost all cafes and even shopping malls (WTF)
#04 Smoking area in cafes are BIGGER than non-smoking area (making it seem like non-smokers are discriminated)
#05 You buy tickets, but you don't have to show or scan any to get into the subway, buses or trams and checks are random which mean you can escape being a free-rider
#06 Giving tip is a culture here because there are no service taxes, giving the consumers the chioice to pay according to the satisfaction they get from the service
#07 Bags are not given in supermarkets and trashes are sorted for recyclement
#08 Censorship is very lenient, nudity and coarse language is allowed on general channels (mm hmm ;p)
#09 There are even vending machines for ciggarettes and condoms (LOL)
#10 In homes, there are only heaters, wtf is air-con and electronic fans?

These are just 10 things which are like really different from Singapore that I have noticed.

Have got so much more to say but I'm so lazy to put them all in words.

Well... That's all for now. Will be back soon (:

Hi, my name is Samantha. I love travelling, reading and meeting people from different walks of life. This is a documentation of my life and my travel adventures. In a way, it is a homage to faded memories of mine. The memory span of a human being is short, hence the existence of these memoirs. Because fifty years down the road, I want to look back, smile to myself and say: "I've lived my life with no regrets."
